Task: students will be expected to complete one task but will be given a choice between two tasks.
Task 1 - Essay on To Kill A Mockingbird
Task 2 - Writing in Context - One extended piece

What can you do to study for the exam?

Read To kill a mockingbird again. At the very least, go through your annotations and see what the main parts are. If you don't have time, this website on To kill a mockingbird may bring you up to speed.

Read over your TKAM SAC again. Look at what the teacher said you did well or could improve on.

Attempt a practice essay on either of the following topics and get your teacher to look over them:

1. In what ways do Atticus Finch and Robert Ewell differ? What do they have in common?
2. Scout and Jem mature considerably through the course of the novel. What changes do they go through, and what causes these changes?
3. Atticus says that "Courage is ... when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what" (p124). Who shows courage in the novel and who proves to be a coward?

Write out the themes, plot summary and key characters (and their characteristics) to remind yourself about the book.

Go through your chapter questions.

Watch this short video on themes:

Familiarise yourself with all the Paul Kelly songs that relate to the context Imaginative Landscape.

Write out some key lyrics from those songs that you may be able to use to draw inspiration from when creating a piece.

Familiarise yourself with different text forms, eg letter, reflective essay, editorial, persuasive speech etc.

Have a good idea about a number of different places that have significance to you that you may be able to write about under exam conditions.
